In the meantime, there are other attractions to discover, enjoy and explore in the area.
Perhaps a walk from one of our popular walks booklets?
The Navigation Road Canal Trail is about 3 miles long and takes you to Sale where you can return either on the bus or the Metro.
You can also extend the walk from Sale to Cornbrook (another 4.25 miles) or to Manchester Piccadilly (a further 2.5 miles)
The walk is mostly on paths with good drainage, but walking boots are recommended as parts of the Bridgewater Canal tow path can be very muddy
The walk should take you about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
The extension to Cornbrook will take a further 2 hours and to Manchester Piccadilly a further hour.
You can find full details including a map of the route which shows the places you will pass on page 14 of our Rail Walks in Greater Manchester booklet .
