The Lostock Gralam Rail Trail is 2.5 km long and takes you from Lostock Gralam Railway Station on a circular route back to the station.
Stout footwear is recommended.
The route includes several stiles and a walk across uneven and sometimes muddy fields.
There are some gentle slopes and a steep flight of 29 steps along the way.
Because the area is used for sheep farming, the stiles are sheep-proof and therefore, to a large extent, dog-proof too – to complete this walk with a dog, you would have to lift it over the stiles and keep it on short lead.
You can find full details including a map of the route which shows the places you will pass on page 24 of our Rail Walks in Cheshire West booklet .
